An era of transformation, All pieces were created from winter 2023- summer 2024 .
I worked on other pieces in between, but the trademark of this series was the intent to create 5 larger pieces. I traversed through mediums from acrylic to texture and sculpting compound incorporated into a painting with mixed media. From street graffiti style to pouring splatter technique, and challenged myself to be a little different as I worked through the impulse to do more and embraced layers of expression.
nostalgia. attachments. Big Love. This piece was created during the winter 2023/2024, and consists of acrylic, chalk, and collage papers from handmade prints. Making its Debut in East Austin at the “Alchemy” exhibit at 2511 E 6th st on April 5, 2024. at Riche’s Art Gallery. , This piece was also featured in the downtown art gallery on rock st. in Georgetown, TX, from June- July 2024 . This piece inspired a series a works in line theory, creating a theme of “attachment” My signature style is abstract and vibrant colors which is exemplified in this piece. This piece was released for debut as part of the "Alchemy" exhibit, at Rich's Gallery Downtown Austin, TX April 2024. I was really excited to be included in this curation. The Exhibit is focused around The Arts ability to heal and transmute negative emotions into power and beauty. I created this piece Dec 2023-Apr 2024 . The description for this piece for the exhibit was simply labeled "trauma bonds" The title of this piece "90's Mix Tape" tells a little deeper into the theme of nostalgia. I would say that my favorite part of the painting is the light blue , it really makes everything contrast because its such a pastel color. This piece speaks about our need for attachments, defined by this thick black line that travels and turns and goes all over the place, but it never ends, and it kind of represents this desire for human attachment even through things like betrayal, abuse, etc., and at the very end you see the word "love" which is like the expectation that we all hope for at the end of these attachments, but if you notice the black line doesn't end when it reaches the word Love it transmutes and dissipates into the balloon shape of colors and drifts off the canvas. symbolizing our freedom in releasing the need and expectation of the attachments. Interpretively this speaks in terms of symbolism for our memories and the emotions we hold.
This piece in particular received alot of chatter on opening night at the Ruby Hotel exhibit August 2024. People want to explore what they can see, or what others might see with them. Ironically alot of the images are synchronistic to other more figurative paintings I have done, but I love being able to come in and look at it a new way each time and in each conversation.
his piece started off as a dystopian airy abstract and became a more earthy domestic pastel piece. Several compliments on the color scheme and tones, I myself appreciate contrast of pattern from the rubbed chalk to the spatula over texture and the drip pour splatter. This piece took a few months to complete and I experienced a major life movement transition during that time period from traveling on vacation to moving into a new apartment. The story I most resonate with this finished piece is how you would eat an apple or some fruit all the way down to the seed and that in itself is a blissful pursuit, but then to prepare the seed and bury it in the ground and anticipate something new to come from it also being a different kind of bliss.
This exhibit is made up of three pieces. I take alot of my inspiration from astronomy/ astrology themed conversations. The technology variation of the term “cookie” as “small pieces of data sent to a browser when you visit, and that browser stores the information for a period of time” is a fun way to look at our relationship with the cosmos. “Tele” meaning “to or at a distance” “pathy” meaning or denoting to feelings, or a disorder even a curative treatment of the disorder”and Jupiter is a non terrestrial gas planet, and is known for expansion and is the largest planet in our solar system. I will leave the rest of our terrestrial interpretation to the imagination of the viewer
